Cooking Instructions & Serving Ideas

Sharaf Organic Falafel Mix is very easy to prepare.

Preperation Instructions:

Empty the mix into a bowl and add a 180ml water mix well and leave to stand for 15 minutes.

 

Cooking Instructions: (Traditionally Falafel is deep fried). Shape the Falafel Mix, using a tablespoon, into small patties/balls,  and you may cook them using one of the following methods:

• Shallow Fry: Gently lower Falafel patties to fry in a minimum of 1 inch deep of vegetable oil, Fry for approx. 3 minutes, turning once, until crispy golden brown, Drain off excess oil and serve.
• Bake: Lightly brush patties with oil and place on a non stick tray into a pre-heated oven (190°C / 375°F or gas mark 5) for approx. 13 minutes or until crispy golden brown.
• Grill: Lightly brush non stick tray and Falafel patties with oil place under grill for approx. 3 minutes turning over once or until golden brown.

Serving Suggestions:

Falafels can be served as a snack or a main meal. You can serve Falafel in a warm pita bread with some salad, drizzle of lemon juice and some sweet chilli sauce. Alternatively you may serve it on a bed of salad of your choice with some hommous, tahini sauce or minted yoghurt. To prepare tahini sauce or minted yoghurt follow the instructions:

• Tahini Sauce: 3 tablespoon of tahini, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, 100 ml of water, pinch of salt. whisk them well all together until you have a creamy texture. 
• Minted Yoghurt: 120 ml natural yoghurt, teaspoon of dry mint, 1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce and mix them all together.
• You can also serve Falafels as a burger (Burger shaped Falafels must be formed before cooking). The kids will love it.
